"Rollin' Across the Northern Plains: A Road Trip from Billings, Montana to Fremont, Nebraska"

Are you ready for a road trip across the northern plains of the United States? Buckle up! Our journey will take us from Billings, Montana to Fremont, Nebraska, with plenty of exciting stops along the way. Let's explore our route options and find out how long each one will take.

Route 1: The Northern Route

Our first option is to take I-94 East from Billings to Bismarck, North Dakota, then turn south on I-29 and continue through South Dakota until we reach Sioux City, Iowa. From there, we'll head east on Highway 20 into Nebraska, taking us all the way to Fremont.

This route will take us approximately 12 hours and 40 minutes, covering a distance of around 820 miles. Along the way, we recommend stopping at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck and the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota.

Route 2: The Southern Route

Our second option is to head southeast out of Billings on I-90, passing through eastern Wyoming and western South Dakota. Once we reach Sioux Falls, South Dakota, we'll head south on I-29, then turn east on Highway 30 in Missouri Valley, Iowa, taking us directly to Fremont.

This route will take us approximately 12 hours and 20 minutes, covering a distance of around 820 miles as well. Along the way, we recommend stopping at Mount Rushmore in South Dakota and The Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska.

Route 3: The Scenic Route

For those who want to take a longer drive and enjoy some beautiful scenery, we recommend taking a combination of highways, state routes, and county roads through Wyoming, South Dakota, and Nebraska. Starting in Billings, we'll take Highway 212 south to Belle Fourche, South Dakota, then head east on South Dakota Highway 34 through the Black Hills and Badlands National Park. From there, we'll continue heading east on state routes until we hit Highway 81 in Norfolk, Nebraska, which will take us directly to Fremont.

This route will take us approximately 16 hours and cover a distance of around 1,000 miles. But it's well worth it for the stunning views we'll see along the way. Along this route, we suggest stopping at Devil's Tower National Monument in Wyoming and the Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota.

Regardless of which route you choose, make sure you take the time to stop and explore the towns, cities, and attractions along the way. Pack plenty of snacks, drinks, and enjoy the journey. Safe travels!
