The Perfect Road Trip: From Britt, Iowa to Columbia, Missouri

Route 1: I-35 S and I-70 E
Distance: 271 miles Drive Time: 4 hours and 10 minutes
This is the most direct route to Columbia, Missouri. Start by taking I-35 South from Britt to Des Moines, Iowa. Then, take I-80 East until you reach I-35 South. Once you're on I-35 South, stay on it until you reach Kansas City, Missouri. From there, take I-70 East until you reach Columbia.
We recommend stopping in Kansas City to check out the world-famous BBQ scene. Some of our favorite spots include Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que, Q39, and Arthur Bryant's.
Route 2: US-18 W and I-29 S
Distance: 300 miles Drive Time: 5 hours and 15 minutes
If you're looking for a slightly longer but more scenic route, consider taking US-18 West out of Britt. Once you reach Sioux Falls, South Dakota, take I-29 South until you reach Kansas City, Missouri. From there, take I-70 East until you reach Columbia.
On this route, we recommend stopping in Sioux Falls to check out Falls Park, a beautiful park featuring a waterfall and walking trails. In Kansas City, be sure to stop at the National World War I Museum and Memorial.
Route 3: IA-3 E and US-63 S
Distance: 265 miles Drive Time: 5 hours
For a more rural route, take IA-3 East out of Britt until you reach Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Then, take US-30 East until you reach US-63. Follow US-63 South until you reach Columbia.
On this route, we recommend stopping in Cedar Rapids to check out the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, featuring pieces from famous artists like Grant Wood. Along US-63, stop at the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum in Hannibal, Missouri.
