Route #1: I-78 W and I-81 S
This route is the most direct and takes you through some beautiful parts of Pennsylvania. The distance is around 170 miles and it should take you around 3 hours and 15 minutes. You'll start by taking I-78 W towards Harrisburg, PA before merging onto I-81 S towards Carlisle and eventually Frederick.
If you have some extra time, we recommend stopping at one of the many wineries in the area, such as the CrossWinds Winery. You'll be able to taste some of the finest wines Pennsylvania has to offer and take in the picturesque views at the same time.
Route #2: I-287 S and I-76 W
This route takes you through New Jersey and Pennsylvania and covers a distance of roughly 200 miles. The total driving time is around 3 hours and 45 minutes. You'll start by taking I-287 S towards Morristown before merging onto I-76 W towards Harrisburg and then taking I-70 W towards Frederick.
If you're a history buff, be sure to stop at Gettysburg National Military Park. It's a great place to learn about the events that took place in the area during the Civil War.
Route #3: US-15 S
Taking US-15 S is a great option if you're looking to experience some beautiful countryside and small towns. The total distance is around 190 miles and it should take you around 4 hours and 15 minutes. You'll pass through picturesque towns like Lewisburg and Williamsport.
If you're feeling peckish, we recommend stopping at the Waffle House in Lewisburg. Their waffles are to die for and it's the perfect way to break up the journey.
