While we recommend driving straight through without a stop, if you need to take a break, you can pause at Point Reyes Station to grab a coffee and breakfast burrito from Bovine Bakery.

If you have a bit more time and want to soak up some of California's stunning landscapes, why not take the scenic route along CA-128 W and CA-1 S? This route is 153 miles long and can take up to four hours and forty-five minutes.
While it takes longer, you will be treated to some of the most striking views of vineyards, redwood forests, winding roads and the coast. On this route, there are several coastal towns worth stopping in for a bite or stretch. One of our favourites is Gualala, where you can grab a pot pie and a pint of local beer from Trinks Cafe or enjoy the panoramic ocean views from St. Orres.
Route 3: The Secret Route
Looking for a less-traveled route? Take the CA-20 W and CA-1 S route, which takes approximately three and a half hours, covering a distance of 171 miles. This route is perfect for those who want to ditch the crowds and immerse themselves in California's beautiful wilderness.
Driving through Mendocino County's lush redwood forests, you will cross over the Russian River, stop at the small town of Jenner to enjoy the beach, the Russian River estuary, and some of the freshest seafood at Cafe Aquatica. En route, you could also consider visiting the charming little towns of Elk and Point Arena.
