The Best Ways to Get from Cathedral City to Los Angeles
If you're planning a trip from Cathedral City to Los Angeles, there are a number of different ways you can go. Depending on what you're looking for, there are options that will get you there quickly, or let you take your time and make some fun stops along the way.
The Fast Route
If speed is your top priority, the fastest way to get from Cathedral City to Los Angeles is via I-10 E. This route, which is about 120 miles long, will take you about 2 hours in normal traffic conditions. While it's not the most scenic route, it will definitely get you there quickly.
The Scenic Route
If you're in the mood for a more leisurely drive, consider taking CA-62 E to CA-247 S, which will take you through Joshua Tree National Park. This route is slightly longer, at about 140 miles, and will take you about 3 hours in normal traffic conditions. However, the stunning desert landscapes and unique rock formations of Joshua Tree make it well worth the extra time.
The Coastal Route
Another scenic option is to take CA-62 E to CA-247 S, then link up with CA-18 W, which will take you through the mountains and eventually down to the coast. From there, you can take the Pacific Coast Highway (CA-1) all the way down to Los Angeles. This route is a little over 200 miles long, and will take you around 5 hours in normal traffic conditions. But with stunning coastal views the whole way, it's definitely a trip worth taking.

No matter which route you choose, there are plenty of fun places to stop along the way. For example, if you take the I-10 E route, consider making a pit stop in Palm Springs to check out the amazing architecture and chic restaurants. If you take the CA-62 E route through Joshua Tree, spend some time exploring the park and taking in the breathtaking vistas. And if you take the coastal route, don't miss a chance to stop in Malibu for some celebrity-watching and surfing.
