Road Tripping from Saratoga Springs, NY to Ellsworth, ME
Now that it’s time to start planning a road trip from Saratoga Springs, New York to Ellsworth, Maine, of course, you're already dreaming of the coast. Here are a few options to get you there and some fun places to stop along the way!
The Scenic Route
The most direct route to Ellsworth from Saratoga Springs is a 6-hour drive up I-87 to I-90, and through Augusta, Maine, then onto Route 3. This route is the most direct, and can be quite beautiful in the right season. You’ll see the Adirondack Park, the Green Mountains, and the White Mountains. Well worth the drive!
The East Coast Excursion
If you’ve got a little extra time and want to make a few stops, you might prefer to take an 8-hour drive up the beautiful coastline on US-1. It’s a little longer of a drive, but you’ll drive through charming small towns, and see some of the rockiest coasts the North Atlantic has to offer.
The Pit Stops
If you’re taking the more scenic route, you’ll want to stop in Keene Valley, NY for a hike in the Adirondacks, or visit Portland, Maine, for a lobster roll at a seaside cafe. If you choose to drive up the coast, be sure to stop at Acadia National Park, and take the scenic loop drive.
The Final Stretch
Ellsworth is just a 45-minute drive from Acadia, and it offers a charming downtown with lots to do and see. Whether you decide to take the direct route, or make the drive a little more scenic, one thing is for sure-- you’re in for a treat!
